Pinnacle Wangmai Satun Hotel, Satun

Although the town is very simple and a bit isolated through very poor transport opportunities apart from tuk-tuks, we enjoyed our stay. People here are very friendly to tourists and you can eat well and very cheap in restaurant Time next door. The Thale Ban National Park (tuctuc) nearby is a very beautiful nature place and you can by bus to hua hin and by boat to Langkawi or ko Tarutao, although not for 1 day because of very few boats and buses to the harbours! The hotel is simple and old, not that clean but offers acceptable comfort at a very low price.

The Pinnacle Wangmai is a fairly large hotel on the edge of town as you head into it - if coming by bus ask the driver or jokey to put you off there (commonly known as the Wangmai Hotel) as it's about a 10 minute walk to town and a good 30-40 minutes walk to the very inconveniently located new bus station - tuk tuk costs TB50 or less if you're lucky, but the drivers know how far it is to walk and they know you're not going to want to do it with bags.
