Amanpuri (place of peace) was built in 1987 and became Amanresorts’ flagship property. Reflecting the style and elegance of Thai culture, the resort’s graceful pavilions and villa homes are situated in a coconut plantation on a headland overlooking the Andaman Sea. Elevated walkways connect pavilions to the resort’s private white sand beach and facilities, including the first Aman Spa. dining : The Terrace offers casual, all-day dining in an alfresco setting and features Thai and European specialties. The Restaurant serves Italian cuisine and is open for dinner year round, and lunch between November and April. Also open during this period is Naoki, serving original French Kaiseki fare which combines the best of French technique with Japanese artistry. The Terrace and The Restaurant are located beside the swimming pool, while Naoki is situated just steps from the beach. Weather permitting, lunches are held at the Beach Terrace. The Bar offers poolside drinks and snacks. At last light, half a dozen moulded-brass tables and teak, rattan-backed chairs are set out along the terrace between the pool and the steps leading to the beach. The view is of the sun setting over the Andaman Sea. A cocktail bar and lounge seating is also available at the Beach Club. From late November to April, weather and tide permitting, torch-lit barbecues are held on the beach in the evening. Room service is available 24 hours a day in the privacy of the pavilions and outdoor salas.

library : The light-filled Library houses a wide selection of books ranging from novels and travel guides to coffee table books about Southeast Asia. A wide variety of magazines, international newspapers, board games, CDs and DVDs is also available.

gallery : An exclusive selection of Asian jewellery, antiques, textiles and artefacts, Thai fabrics, a selection of gifts, souvenirs and general sundries are available for purchase.

board room : Meeting facilities include a boardroom with audio equipment and an LCD projector.

aman spa : The Spa features six spacious Thai-style pavilions, each offering an open, light-filled space of wood and glass with private steam room, shower, bath, dressing area and an outdoor meditation sala. Treatments can be enjoyed individually or as a couple. There is also a sauna, granite steam room and fountain terrace where health drinks are served. Complimentary guided yoga and meditation sessions are offered at daybreak in the open-sided teakwood salas set high on the hillside. The extensive Aman Spa menu includes a range of healing therapies as well as traditional treatments such as facials, body wraps, scrubs and baths.

swimming pool : Amanpuri’s 27m fresh-water swimming pool is finished in midnight-blue tiling. Complimentary Thai tea is served daily late in the afternoons, and traditional Thai music is performed most evenings at the pool pavilion. A 20m lap pool is also available at the Beach Club.

gym : The 350m² glass-walled Gym is perched on the highest point of the property and offers spectacular views, as well as a Pilates studio. A variety of cardiovascular equipment including a Power Plate machine and free weights are available. Personal trainers are on hand to provide individual attention.

tennis : Amanpuri offers six floodlit courts. Playing partners and equipment are available.
