Ko Tao: (also often Koh Tao, lit. "Turtle Island") is an island in Thailand located near the eastern shore of the Gulf of Thailand. It covers an area of about 21 km. Administratively it forms a tambon within the district (Amphoe) Ko Pha Ngan of Surat Thani Province. As of 2006 its official population number is 1382[1]. The main settlement is Ban Mae Hat. The economy of the island is almost exclusively centered around tourism, especially scuba diving.

Jansom Bay is a small protected cove offering it's visitors a great place to relax and snorkel. It's especially good for kids because there is no currents and the water is clear and quite shallow.
There is a wealth of marine life including many colorful reef fish. There is also a good chance of spotting a Green Sea Turtle.

Mae Haad Bay All boats arrive here. Naturally highly developed, but still managed to keep some of its old fishing village charm.
Most dive centers have an office here, lots of travel agents, email services, supermarkets, bike rentals, good restaurants and party venues. A few up-market resorts are located on the southern end . Sairee's white sandy beach stretches about 1.7km over most of the west coast, interrupted only by a few huge boulders. Mae Haad is only a 10 minute walk away. Being the most popular area on Tao, Sairee offers a wide range of accommodation, dive centers, restaurants, shops, beach bars, travel & email services, nurseries

To get to Tanote Bay is a thrilling experience. The road there will take you over 'Mount Koh Tao' and offers a breathtaking view of the island's eastern hilly slopes. Chalok Baan Kao is located on the southernmost tip of Koh Tao. It faces Ang Thong Marine Park, which was made famous by the movie that starred Leonardo Di Caprio. It's one of the most popular beach on Koh Tao, and understably so. It's simply beautiful.

Due to it's location, the bay of Chalok Baan Kao is sheltered from wind and waves throughout most of the year. It's very shallow, the beach sloping down very gently towards deeper water.
